A student from Bald Eagle Area High School is spearheading an event for the community that helps fight hunger. With the event called An Evening at the Barn, Autumn Tobias aims to support the YMCA of Centre County’s Backpack Weekend Food program that benefits school-aged students from across the county, including those in the Bald Eagle Area School District.

It will be held 6 p.m. June 28 at Steve Stem’s Beautiful Barn, 253 Sycamore Lane, Julian. Tickets are $20 per person or $160 for a table of eight. Dinner will include roasted pig and a variety of other fixings, desserts, beverages and more. It will also include a DJ for entertainment, dancing and a silent auction.

Please make a check to the Bald Eagle Area FFA. You may contact (814) 355-4868 for more information.

The Backpack Weekend Food program provides a backpack full of food for local students to take home on the weekends. It’s filled by volunteers with items such as cereal, soup, tuna, spaghetti, crackers, fruits and more. Students take home the backpack on Friday after school and returned it to be refilled by Monday the following week.
