Preparations for 2018 Homecoming activities have been in the works for weeks. This year’s events are being organized by student government under direction of teacher and adviser Diane Lucas, and includes a homecoming parade, football game with other festivities, a dance and more.

Last year was the first year a BEA homecoming parade was established. This year, the parade will again start at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27 in Milesburg – starting on Old Route 220 and ending at the American Legion fields where a bonfire will follow.

Lucas said that in order to hold a parade in the borough, a parade permit must have been established. With a “fall madness” theme, about 50 groups will be a part of the parade including school athletics, clubs and community organizations.

Parade lineup is from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. with a 6 p.m. start time. A bonfire will follow. The homecoming football game festivities will start about 6:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28 with the crowning of the homecoming queen followed by the football game at 7 p.m. against Tyrone. A semiformal dance for seventh through 12th grades will be held from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29.

Spirit week is also held this week leading up to homecoming activities with a new theme each day. Monday kicked off the week with camouflage day. Tuesday is nerds vs. jocks day, Wednesday is character day, Thursday is a throwback day that encourages students to dress for the different generations, and Friday is blue and gold day to celebrate Eagle pride.
