Students in Jamie Smith and Del Park’s classes at Bald Eagle Area Middle and High School are doing what they can to make a difference this holiday season by collecting items for the Geisinger Janet Weis Children’s Hospital. Donations are being made in support of a BEA student and his family – Team B Strong.

The theme for the campaign is the Polar Express, inspired by a quote in the movie that states, “the bell still rings for all who truly believe” – in making a difference, Smith said.

Donations are being accepted through Dec. 19. Drop boxes can be found in the cafeteria and lobby of the middle and high school and the main entrance at Wingate Elementary School. According to a report from Geisinger, only new toys in its original packaging can be given to children in the hospital.

The donation wish list includes:
-coloring books;
-crayons;
-markers;
-colored pencils;
-Playdoh;
-scissors;
-glue;
-arts and crafts kits;
-Hot Wheels or Matchbox cars;
