Each year, students and staff at Howard Elementary School spend time creating ornaments as they sponsor a Christmas tree for the Festival of Trees. The event is held annually at Central Pennsylvania Institute of Science and Technology.

The ornaments created this year align with the Schoolwide Positive Behavior and Intervention Support theme for elementary buildings -- a western theme.

Students in each grade level at Howard, provided unique ornaments: kindergarteners created stars, first-grade students put together cactus ornaments, second-graders painted Christmas bulbs with horses, third-grade students make lasso loops, fourth-graders added cinnamon western-looking ornaments and fifth-grade students provided the garland and red bulbs.

The tree won in the category of Best Done by Children.
