Students at Port Matilda Elementary School got a visit from the Grinch – well, kind of. Barbara Korner, dean of the College of Arts and Architecture at Penn State, dropped by the school in early December to read and perform as the Grinch from the book, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.”

Third-grade teacher Sarah Stere said Korner has visited the school for several years to read to the third-grade class. The event started under direction of now-retired teacher Carrie Sharkey – and the tradition continues.

“She has the whole book memorized and performs it – Grinch face and all,” Stere said.
