This year, CenClear is hosting a Child Abuse Prevention Carnival in three nearby areas in Centre and Clearfield counties, open to the public for free. The goal is to provide families with educational sessions, while allowing them to have fun with games and activities. There will also be information about positive parenting techniques and other services available through area agencies.
“I feel we need to get the word out about child abuse to reduce the number of incidents and do everything possible to reach as many people as we can,” Preventative Preschool Mental Health Coordinator Sean Rockmore said in a prepared statement.
April is also National Child Abuse Prevention Month, and these events are annually held in April to recognize the efforts to reduce and spread awareness about these issues.
The events will be held 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
-April 6 at 3638 N. Atherton St., Port Matilda
-April 13 at 1 Beaver Drive, DuBois
-April 27 at 580 Old Route 322, Philipsburg.
CenClear is a Bigler-based agency that provides early childhood, preschool and mental health services to residents in a 15-county area.
