As you may know, the Bald Eagle Area School District is in the beginning phases of a renovation/construction project for the Bald Eagle Middle-High School and the Wingate Elementary School. In our construction plans, we are considering moving the 6th grade students from the four elementary schools to the Bald Eagle Middle-High School sometime in the near future. This would create a true "Middle School" of grades 6-7-8, as many of the surrounding school districts have implemented. This, in turn, would create space in the elementary schools for Pre-K classrooms to be added.
The benefits for these 6th grade students moving to the Middle School would be receiving advanced math courses, language courses, and band and choir group instruction. Contact with students in grades 9-12 would be limited, as classrooms would be separated, and bell schedules would be different. Sixth grade students often already come to the Middle-High School for athletic practices and games, and for choir and band practice. Many 6th grade students are ready to move up to a new educational level, and are ready to meet and interact with new friends.
