Eagle Ambassadors Alumni Foundation |
Many of our surrounding school districts, for example Altoona, Penns Valley, and State College, have established an alumni foundation. At Bald Eagle Area, Eagle Ambassadors was incorporated in 2003 as a vehicle to support academics, arts, and athletics at the Bald Eagle Area School District. Supporters of Eagle Ambassadors include 50+ years of BEA alumni, along with other members of our greater Bald Eagle Area Community. The Eagle Ambassadors began their fund-raising campaign with a donor brick program. These bricks will be displayed near the entrance to the new gymnasium at the Middle-High school in a landscaped donor wall area. Eagle Ambassadors is sure that once the bricks are on display, more orders will be received. Eagle Ambassadors newest endeavor has been to update the addresses in the BEA alumni data base. If you have the information, perhaps from a class reunion, to update classmate addresses for your graduating year, please send an email to rmhoover@beasd.org for information on how to do that. The first annual giving appeal was conducted in 2010. With the funds received from that campaign, $200 has been donated to each of the libraries in our five school buildings at Howard Elementary, Mountaintop Area Elementary, Port Matilda Elementary, Wingate Elementary, and the Bald Eagle Middle-High School; and, using donated funds, an eight foot steel bench was also installed in the lobby of our newly constructed high school gymnasium. This bench is identical to the other three new benches previously donated to BEA by the Crater Family in memory of Doug Crater, and by the Herbert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program at PSU. Eagle Ambassadors has asked the Bald Eagle Area School District to develop a "Wish List" of needed items, so donors can dedicate their funds to a special educational interest. In the coming years, Eagle Ambassors will continue its mission of building a "Culture of Support" from BEA alumni for the benefit of the Bald Eagle Area School District.
