In-person learning to start December 7th

Dear BEA Community:

Today we had two additional students test positive for Covid-19, one at Mountaintop Elementary and one at the high school.  We now have over 200 students district-wide quarantined.

Additionally, the state has come out with additional restrictions due to the large number of Covid-19 cases that continue to grow significantly.
As a result, I am extending the closure of all schools through December 4 with students returning to in-person learning beginning Monday, December 7.  This will allow us to monitor cases over Thanksgiving Break and the week after Thanksgiving.  Please contact your child's school if you have any questions or if your child becomes ill, is in close contact with someone who tests positive, or if your child tests positive for Covid-19.
This was a difficult but necessary decision to make.  Nearly all students and staff quarantined will be able to return to school by December 7, provided they do not become ill.

Regarding sports practices, Mr. Dyke and the neighboring districts' athletic directors will be discussing that in greater detail following Thanksgiving Break.

It is my hope that we do not see a significant increase in Covid cases during and after Thanksgiving so we can get our students back to in-person learning.

It's been a tough year, but we have much to be thankful for.  Have a Happy Thanksgiving.

Sincerely,
Scott V. Graham
Superintendent
