ABOUT US

The Port Matilda Elementary School is one of four elementary schools in the Bald Eagle Area School District. Port Matilda Elementary houses 100 students in grades K-5. With an average class size of 17 students, this let's our teachers provide excellent support to all students.
Academically, we provide core content using Reading Wonders as our curriculum for reading, along with Enhanced Core Reading Instruction (ECRI) to help supplement the core program in grades K-2. Our math curriculum is Everyday Mathematics which allows students to gain an understanding of mathematical concepts and a solid mathematical foundation. Our Science Program is rooted in the FOSS Curriculum which bridges research and practice by providing tools and strategies to engage students and teachers in enduring experiences that lead to deeper understanding of the natural and designed worlds. We also believe students need to be well rounded and have many experiences. Port Matilda provides students opportunities with music, art, physical education and band for 4th and 5th grade students. We also look forward to student competition by being part of a team and working collaboratively. This includes the IU Reading Competition for students in grades 4-5, K'nex Challenge, MATH 24 challenge. We strive to make all children the best they can be at Bald Eagle Area (BEA)!
