Each school director must be of good moral character, at least 18 years old, a resident of the district for at least one year prior to election or appointment, and cannot hold certain offices or serve on the municipal council. Directors must not have been removed from any office of trust for malfeasance, and they cannot engage in business with, be employed by, or receive pay from the school district unless permitted by law. Additionally, they are required to take the statutory oath or affirmation before assuming their duties and file a statement of financial interests with the Board Secretary or designee.
