Dear BEA Community:
I have received several email concerns about the federal ESSER funds the district is receiving will be tied to students having to wear masks at school next year.
While we have received little guidance from the state, I have heard nothing that ties ESSER funding, which for us is over $3 million, to students wearing masks.
The state mask mandate ends on June 28. We have been told we may continue to require masks to be worn.
My personal stance and recommendation to the Board will be that no one wears masks on and after June 28.
I checked with a colleague who is in constant contact with the state and they are not aware of any mask mandate to receive federal funding.
If I hear any additional information, I will share it with you immediately. Enjoy the nice weather and I think we are all looking forward to June 28.
