Covid update

Dear BEA Community:

Here are some updates of COVID cases in our schools:
Last Thursday and Friday, there were five student cases at the MS/HS, two student cases and one adult case at Wingate Elementary, and one student case at Port Matilda.  All close contacts have been notified.
Last week in one of my posts, I referred to the Mifflin County letter.  This letter was sent out to parents and students in Mifflin County stating that the guidelines around contact tracing and quarantining students had been revised.
I spoke with our solicitor and the Executive Director of IU 10 to see what, if any changes had occurred.  According to everyone I spoke with, there have been no changes to the guidelines districts have been following when working with the DOH on contact tracing and quarantines.
Additionally, last week there were two decisions from PA Federal District Courts regarding lawsuits against school districts for implementing the mask mandate.  Both cases were First Amendment cases against the Tredyffrin/Easttown SD and Montoursville SD.  In both cases, the judges sided with the districts.  I will keep you updated as events warrant.
Sincerely,
Scott V Graham
