FFA Harvest

The BaldEagle FFA has prepared another Harvest of the Month feature for our middle/high school cafeteria.  Seven swags were created for the food line doorways. This involved students from both Mr. Thompson's forestry classes and Mr. Biddle agriculture science classes.  The forestry students harvested the material that was used in the swags from our school woods.  This plant material includes spruce, white pine, and hemlock.  They also constructed the educational display board that will be used in the cafeteria to educate the students about the Christmas tree and lumbering industry.  Pennsylvania is the hardwood capital of the world and ranks third nationally for Christmas tree production.  There are many jobs related to this content in the field of agriculture.  The agriculture science students constructed the swags with the harvested plant material after learning how to construct bows from high school administrative assistants, Ginger Leupold and Melissa Robinson.  These students also constructed the wreath and swags for the district office.  It is our hope that this harvest of the month will bring cheer to the district while recognizing the strong agriculture connections in our local community.
